Wood Residence - Primrose Hill

This project in Primrose Hill modified an existing flat to open up the ground floor to provide open plan living, dining and kitchen. Features included a 3.4 metre tall sliding panel that could be used to close the utilitarian part of the kitchen off visually from the living spaces. These very large sliding panels were achievable because they would be constructed from aluminium honeycomb sandwich panel and so were able to use conventional sliding gear despite their size.

In addition a glass study extension was to be added to the back of the house with a deck roof providing views up towards Primrose Hill. Planning permission was granted for the scheme in early 2002.

The initial design went on hold after the client bought the upper flat and a new scheme that rejoins the two flats back into a whole house and reorganises the living space was completed in 2002.
