Markland Klaschka Limited is a young, growing architecture and design studio led by Richard Markland and Robert Klaschka.

The practice aims to set new standards for design excellence and value for money in the execution of commissions. We also look to provide solutions that are developed from clients’ specific needs. By understanding existing situations we can work with clients to establish the best way forward.

We have a wide range of experience across many building types and are ready to tackle new briefs. We can offer particular expertise in housing, offices, cultural centres, sports buildings and mixed-use developments.

Approach

What sets us apart is our equal commitment to both the design and delivery of projects.

We put ourselves forward as a design practice; after all we became architects to fulfil a creative desire. As such we are constantly pushing back the boundaries of our understanding of architecture, looking for innovative solutions and experimenting with formal expression. Our design goals are to create great places for clients and the community and to address wider issues facing construction today such as sustainability.

In terms of project delivery, the reconciliation of the competing factors of cost, quality and time requires a highly structured process. Resources need to be deployed efficiently, communication needs to be concise and clear, and management needs to be predictive rather than reactive. All efforts are geared to reducing risk and fostering the smooth running of projects.

In order to do this we work with a close knit team that generates collective knowledge, judgement and insight. This is complemented by state-of-the-art systems that are under constant review and development. Furthermore, we are forming strategic relationships with other construction team members and key software developers to refine the systems and improve our service. We use structured management to allow creativity to flourish while reducing risk. We see this as a responsible approach that benefits our clients.
