Wycombe District Council in 2005
As part of a major regeneration of High Wycombe town centre the council are exploring options for updating their sports and leisure facilities. A strategy involving three sites in the town has been formulated to explore the town planning and financing possibilities. The project illustrated here examines the feasibility of relocating the sports centre to the former industrial sites of the Hughenden valley. The sports centre will be the centrepiece of the of a new gateway route into the town from the north. A key part of the masterplan is to create a green corridor connecting the town centre to Hughenden Park.
The feasibility of the sports centre rested on adapting to the sectional constraints of the narrow valley floor and demonstrating a strategy for avoiding light pollution from the floodlit pitch.
